Born
Nkemdirim Chinatuka Anthony Okereke known professionally as Nkemdy Okereke,
born and raised in the city of Aba, Abia State on 26th day of August
1986, a native of Ajalli in Orumba North LGA, Anambra state. Nkemdy is the last
born in a family of four (2girls, 2boys), he attended both primary and secondary
school in Aba and moved to Owerri after gaining admission into Federal
University of Technology, Owerri where he studied Chemical Engineering.
Nkemdy
who has been writing since his primary school days, started writing (movie
scripts) again in 2011, trying to make a career out of it, but to no avail,
because his work was criticized in a forum he joined, for having tenses
struggle and weak story climax, but got praises for his song writing skills. In
2011 Nkemdy started working in a bakery; he worked there between 2011 – 2014
when he resigned to pursue a film career in both screenwriting and directing,
he then join a theater group where he played a minor role in a TV pilot which
was never released because of lack of sponsorship, he was also accepted at
Pencil Film and Television Institute (PEFTI) in 2015 to study film and television
production, but discontinue because of financial challenges.
In
2015 Nkemdy final drafted his first original short film script titled; “Murder She
Wrote,” which was praised by the same people that criticized his earlier works.
Nkemdy then started consulting scriptwriting e-books, and award winning scripts
to read and learn ways to improve in his own crafts. On 1 April 2016 Nkemdy
launched his blog www.nkemdy.blogspot.com as a platform he’ll
use in marketing his scripts and songs as he has learnt that it is hard to get
his work out there without a platform/structure.
In 2017 Nkemdy reapplied to PEFTI, but withdrawn again because of financial challenges, he later started working with 7up Bottling Company, there he wrote a short film script titled "King," the same year, which was submitted to Homevida Scriptwriting Competition under the category of Transparency, Accountability and Good Governance (TAGG). King was later shortlisted as the best scripts, but didn't win the competition.

In 2019, Nkemdy reapplied to PEFTI and was accepted to study Film and Television Production, and in 2021 he graduated with Upper Credit diploma. In 2022 Nkemdy relocated to Asaba, where he joined a Film Academy, Asaba Film Academy, as an intern, and after eight months, he was staffed as a Screenwriting Instructor.
While working with Asaba Film Academy, Nkemdy wrote and directed numerous short films and web series for both Asaba Film Academy and other platform's YouTube channels. His highly acclaimed films are "Mind Your Language" an eight episodes web series which he wrote and directed for Asaba Film Academy YouTube channel and "Deadite in High school", a short film shot with a mobile phone, which he wrote and directed for Golden Reels Production YouTube channel.
After December 2024, Nkemdy resigned from Asaba Film Academy, to focus on his personal growth as an independent Filmmaker. So in 2025, Nkemdy ventured into content creation, creating slapstick comedy skits and mini-drama series on Facebook.
